Janitor AI Inc. ("Janitor.ai", "we", "our", or "us") operates the Janitor.ai data cleaning platform at janitor.ai. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use our website, application, or services (collectively, the "Service").

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide directly

• Account registration: Name, work email address, company name, and job title.
• Demo requests and contact forms: Name, email, company, role, and any message you submit.
• Billing information: Processed by our third-party payment processor (Stripe). We do not store raw card numbers.
• Uploaded data files: CSV, Excel, or other files you upload to the Service for cleaning and processing.

2.2 Information collected automatically

• Usage data: Pages visited, features used, cleanup jobs run, timestamps, and session duration.
• Device and browser data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, and referring URLs.
• Cookies and similar technologies: See Section 7 below.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide, operate, and improve the Service.
• To process cleanup jobs and return cleaned data files.
• To respond to your demo requests, support tickets, and inquiries.
• To send transactional emails (job completion, billing receipts) and optional product update newsletters.
• To detect security incidents and prevent fraud or abuse.
• To comply with applicable laws and regulations.
• To display advertisements through Google AdSense, which may be personalized based on your browsing activity subject to your consent preferences.

We do not use your uploaded data files to train machine learning models. Your data is processed only to execute the cleanup rules you configure.

4. Data Retention

Uploaded data files are retained for the duration specified in your plan (7 days for Starter, 30 days for Growth, custom for Enterprise) and then permanently deleted. Account and contact information is retained for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting privacy@janitor.ai.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers: Trusted third-party processors (e.g., Stripe for payments, AWS for cloud infrastructure) who are contractually bound to handle your data securely.
• Legal compliance: If required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
• Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to confidentiality obligations.
• With your consent: For any other purpose with your explicit prior consent.

6. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including AES-256 encryption at rest, TLS 1.3 in transit, role-based access controls, and annual SOC 2 Type II audits. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We will promptly notify you of any confirmed security breach affecting your personal data as required by applicable law.

7. Cookies and Advertising

We use essential cookies required for the Service to function (session management, authentication). We may also use analytics and advertising cookies from third-party partners, including Google, to improve user experience and display relevant advertisements.

7.1 Google AdSense

Our primary infrastructure is hosted in the United States. For European customers, we offer EU data residency (Frankfurt region) on request for Growth and Enterprise plans, and we sign Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as required by GDPR.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email at least 30 days before they take effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.
